We are excited you are here

The Rossville United Methodist Church has a deep heritage that reaches back to 1831. Some of the people that you will see on Sunday morning have family roots that date back to those early days. Many of the people enjoying our worship service have recently moved into our community. When our worshipping family gathers together we discuss spiritual growth and future ministries while respecting our history.

When to arrive:
If it's your first visit then it's probably best to come in around 10.00 am. If you are driving you can park in the parking lot just west of the building or along either side of the street. Most people use the glass double doors which face US 26. Some use the ramp entrance on the north side of the building. For directions to reach us please see the Our Church page. You'll be greeted on the door by our welcoming team who will give you some information about the church, notices of forthcoming events and discuss any questions you might have as a visitor.

What to wear:
This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. We are an informal church and accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not. Whether you come as a suited businessman or a casual weekender you will see others dressed that way too.

What to expect:
For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries here's a quick summary of what you can expect visiting us.

First of all we are NOT a group of some kind of super-spiritual beings. We all had a 'first day' at church. When you visit our church, you'll find a group who is much like yourself. We are friendly. We care about our family. We think gas prices are too high. If you don't understand something please simply ask someone seated near you.

We start our service at 10.15am with a few minutes of notices keeping us informed of diary dates etc, happenings with members of the community and special concerns or some may bring words of encouragement.

Our worship time consists of songs, Bible verses and a message from Pastor Rick. Everyone is welcome to participate in the worship in whatever way they feel comfortable.

By 11.00 we have generally had a short message for the children. Afterwards, the kids can go to the Sunday school area where the leaders expand on the lesson of the day with the children. We also host a nursery for children younger than Kindergarten age. Parents are invited to use our nursery services any time during our worship service.

After the children are dismissed Pastor Rick talks with the adults on the lesson of the day. These lessons are Bible based, relevant and meaningful to our modern lives. Our goal is to dismiss our service 11.30 and 11.45. Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years that you should be encouraged and inspired by the morning. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.

What we believe:
We are a Christian church and believe that all can have relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus (God's only son) who invites us to follow him. We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds. If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith then please come along on a Sunday or contact the office.

Is it just Sundays?
Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We're not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do. There are study group and other learning opportunities that meet throughout the week.

For those with disabilities:
Our premises are accessible for those with physical disabilities. We have reserved parking spaces near the entrance with a ramp access into our worship area.

We aim to be an all-inclusive church. However our current resources are limited as is our accessibility. There are plans and to correct this in the near future.

We have limited provisions to help with the hearing impaired. If you wish to discuss specific needs please contact the church office.

Please tell us what would be helpful for your family's needs.
