Worship Service

Sunday Services

We start our service at 10.15am with a few minutes of notices keeping us informed of diary dates etc, happenings with members of the community and special concerns or some may bring words of encouragement.

Our worship time consists of songs, Bible verses and a message from Pastor Rick. Everyone is welcome to participate in the worship in whatever way they feel comfortable.

Worship on July 6

A small crowd gathered together for worship on the Sunday following the Independence Day holiday. That didn’t dampen the spirits of the ones who were there.

Our church historian, LaVaughn Stong, led our worship service as we celebrated religious freedom in our country. LaVaughn stated her purpose of the service as 1) Celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence 2) Honor those who have served our country and 3) Worship God who has given us such gifts.

Worship on June 29

The congregation gathered together. There was much talk in excited as they waited for a time of worship to begin.

Mr. Remaly led the announcement time. Betsy R, Wilma G, Gina G and Jack H each has a word of praise to share with the congregation. Julie W and Chris W voiced a prayer concern.

The worship service was called to order. Dave Need was the liturgist of the morning.

Connie Hinesley led us in the opening praise songs of “This is My Commandment” and “Surely the Presence”.

The pastor led us in a time of prayer.

Worship on June 8

It was warm outside. Many gathered together to enjoy our worship service.

Mr. Remaly took charge of our announcement time. Jane E., Arelene G, Vicki R, Carol M and Kelly F. each shared prayer concerns with the congregation.

When the announcement time was completed, Dave Need honored our seniors. We had a breakfast for them during the Sunday school hour. Here in the worship service we gave them a gift certificate to The Carpenter’s Son bookstore.

Worship on June 1

RHS had graduated on Saturday. The air was filled with excited students and tired adults as we gathered together for worship.

Rodney Lawrence called the people together. After a variety of announcements and praise reports, only Jennifer L had a prayer request for the church to remember.

Worship on May 18

The eager worshipers gathered together in anticipation of a time to relax and rest in God’s love.

Rodney Lawrence opened the announcement time. Many people were talking about the cookie canvas that we had done the day before. We gave 154 dozen cookies to random families around Rossville. It is such a fun way to get our name out in the community.

Deb P, Julie W, Anita L, Regina G and Vanessa D each had pray concerns to share with the group. Rodney closed in prayer.

Sunday, May 11

Worship on Mothers’ Day began with excitement in the air as the Children’s Sunday School department hosted a party for the ladies of the church. As many of the ladies entered the sanctuary they carried flowers, balloons, sand art and other memories from the party.

Allen Remaly hosted the announcement section of the service. Barb W, Sharon S, Megan Z, Jacque C, Barb M and Linda O each shared a prayer concern with the congregation.

Worship on Sunday, May 4

There was a chill in the air outside, the crowd gathered inside expecting God to meet with us.

Jeff Need was leader of the opening section as announcements were made and the community began focusing on worship together. Mike R., Linda O., Carol M. and Barb W. each spoke about prayer concerns on their heart. Chad D. took the time to praise God for the good things in his life. Jeff closed this section of our worship service in prayer.

Worship on Sunday, April 27

It was a chilly day as we gathered together for worship. The crowd was happy to see one another as we gathered as God’s children.

Rodney Lawrence led the opening announcement time. Frieda C, Janet R and Megan Z each discussed prayer concerns with the crowd.

Worship on April 20

It was a warm sunny Sunday morning. Everyone seemed to bring a great attitude with them as they gathered together for worship.

Rod Lawrence led our announcement time. Most of the talk was around the Walk Thru the Old Testament seminar that we were hosting that day.

Wanita T and Chris W were the only ones who discussed prayer concerns with the group.

The worship service was called to order. Vanessa Dotson was our liturgist of the morning. She invited the youth group to make an announcement. They did a skit to promote the dinner theater they will be hosting in 2 weeks.

Worship on Sunday, April 13

It was a busy day this past Sunday. It was Jennie Carlyle Day. It was the day that we honored the member of our congregation that will be turning 103 this coming Thursday. The house was packed with all kinds of people from all over the state who came to honor Jennie.

LaVaughn Stong led this section of the service. She had special music in Jennie’s honor. Jennie recited a poem about friendship that she had written for this occasion.

Buzz Disinger was the Liturgist of the morning. He called our worship service to order.

Worship on April 6

It is finally starting to warm up here in Indiana. Folk seemed to be a great mood as they gathered for worship on such a beautiful day.

Jane E, Julie W, Buzz D, Phyllis H and Carol M each shared prayer concerns with the group.

Worship on March 16

It was Palm Sunday. Everyone seemed to enter the sanctuary with a sense of excitement and expectancy as each person was handed a palm frond.

Jeff Need led our opening announcement time. Kim N, Chris W, Linda O and Carol M were among the people who shared joys or prayer concerns.

Mary Gray was our liturgist of the morning. She called us to worship by reading from some quotes from Winston Churchill about how success and failure do not follow us throughout our life. But, she added that God does.

Worship on March 2

The sun was shinning. There was promise of warm weather in the air. The people gathered for worship with a spring in their step reflecting the feel of spring in the air.

Steve Gottschalk, our Lay Leader, was elected as the one to run the announcement time. This was his first time leading this activity. He did a great job.

Vanessa D., Dan C., Jane E., Blake R. and Betsy R. all talked about joys that they have seen in their lives this past week.

Blake R., Rod L., Rusty M., Carolyn H., Buzz D. and Steve G. all talked about prayer concerns in their lives.

Worship on February 24

It had been a snowy wintry week here in north-central Indiana. The sun came out on Saturday to melt most of the snow from the pavement. Folk felt good about coming out for church.

Rodney L did the opening section of our service. Anita L, Vicki R, Melissa H, Rusty M, Wilma G, Chris W and Jennifer L all shared prayer concerns with the gathered family.

Vanessa Dotson was our liturgist of the morning. She called us to worship by reading a quote from Sheila Walsh which asked if we really understand the concept of God’s invitation to us. It is a great gift offered to us.

Worship on February 10

Oh, was it cold outside! Oh, did everyone come in here with chilly fingers! Soon the friendly chatter of worshippers gathering together soon warmed all in the bond of love.

As folk took their seat they couldn’t help but to notice the many box, jars and cans of food stacked all over the front of the sanctuary. It was an impressive sight, whatever the purpose.

Worship on February 3, 2008

As the faith community gathered together, there was an air of excitement and expectancy. Most people were chatting with one another. Several people commented about the noise level of the chatting and how that brought the building to life.

Janet R, Jennifer L, Vicki R, Jane E, Ned M and Sean A each had prayer concerns to bring before the congregation.

Worship on January 27, 2008

As we entered the sanctuary there were 2 obvious and curious changes. The screen had a listing of current announcements flashing across. Although we have been working with the screen for over a year, this was the first time we were greeted with announcements. There were still plenty of announcements written in the bulletin, it was a little more exciting to read them up front.

The second change was on the preacher’s platform. In front of the altar were about 7 suitcases of various sizes and colors. It made the people around me ask why someone would put this collection up front.

Worship on Sunday, January 20

The air temperature was dangerously cold. The wind chill was even worse. A few churches in the area had cancelled services. We were not sure how many folk would be joining us. We ended up with nearly a record number of people here on a January morning for the past 5 years.

As the service was being called to order, Kim N, Jane E, Niki K and Mary G each had prayer concerns to share with the family.

Vanessa Dotson was our liturgist of the morning. She opened our worship service by telling about how she has Psalm 148 and 150 on her desk. She continued by reading Psalm 148 for us.

Worship on January 13, 2008

The worship service began with about 10 people talking about how God had been working in their life and about concerns on their heart.

Ginny McCabe was our Liturgist of the morning. She called the service to order by asking the congregation to spend a few minutes greeting one another.

Jennifer Lawrence was our song leader of the morning. She was assisted by her young daughter, Olivia who spent most of her time hiding behind the lectern. We opened with the song, “You Are My Hiding Place” and “Let us Break Bread Together.”
