This committee nominates those persons from the congregation whose gifts and talents would best serve the needs of the congregation. This group generally only meets for a few weeks throughout the year.
This group has one of the most difficult of tasks as it must evaluate persons’ spiritual gifts and spiritual maturity in order to match these with the church’s needs. It is vital that this group doesn’t “just fill in the holes” nor do they place their friends or family members in esteemed positions. This group must consider the best way to have people in ministry within the church and beyond.
This committee is the only group where the Pastor has an official voice as the pastor is required to chair this committee. This group is made up of 9 people from the congregation who can only be nominated during charge conference or by the Administrative Council if charge conference has given them permission.
This can be a fun committee as the task is clear. This can be a very challenging committee as the seemingly best qualified people are not always willing to serve.
